Fresenius Medical Care - Body Composition Monitor - A Tool for Individual Patient Fluid Assessment
Friday, 27 June 2008 07:00 - 08:15, Parkside Room 110 B
Fluid overload is a common condition among patients on dialysis and one of the major causes of mortality. Achieving optimal fluid balance remains a major clinical challenge and assessment of fluid status based on subjective indicators has been a limiting factor in the control of fluid balance. The Body Composition Monitor (BCM) is the first device that determines individual fluid status and assists the clinicians in the quantification of fluid status - overhydration and total body water (V).
The BCM is a device that can be applied for a vast majority of CKD patients even those who are not yet dialysis dependent. The measurements are accurate, non-invasive with results obtained in two minutes. Practical demonstrations will be conducted at the session
